BU Honors Parker

CHN Staff Report

BOSTON — Boston University officially honored long-time coach Jack Parker on Friday by distinguishing the team's new ice hockey arena as Parker Rink.

Officially Agganis Arena since being completed last winter, it will now be Parker Rink at Agganis Arena. It was a move that had been rumored since the night of the first game there.

Parker, with 715 wins, is second among active college coaches. He was honored in a roast format, with the likes of comedian Dennis Leary, former players Jack O'Callahan and Dave Silk, former Harvard coach Bill Cleary, and ESPN broadcaster Sean McDonough chiming in.

"I can't describe what this means to me," Parker said. "My name is now associated with Harry Agganis. My name is associated with a pretty famous name in Boston in John Hancock. My name is associated with Boston University. That will always mean a great deal to me."
