MADISON, Wis. Wisconsin goaltender Brian Elliott, a leading candidate for the Hobey Baker Award, will miss 3-4 weeks, according to a school spokesperson, after injuring his leg during practice on Wednesday.
Elliott was injured when a teammate mistakenly slid into him during practice. At 18-2-2, Elliott has played every game this season for the Badgers, a team that leads the nation in winning percentage and is atop every poll and ranking.
According to Wisconsin sports information director Paul Capobianco, Elliott was further examined today and it was determined he would miss up to four weeks. Wisconsin plays Denver in two games this weekend.
Freshman backup goaltender Shane Connelly has not appeared in a regular-season game, though he did play in an exhibition game on Dec. 16 against the U.S. Under-18 team.
