Vetri Will Not Return for Lowell

CHN Staff Report

LOWELL, Mass. — Peter Vetri, the Hockey East Rookie of the Year for 2004-05, will not return to Massachusetts-Lowell for his junior year, and may look to transfer, according to reports.

Vetri has started almost every game for the River Hawks the last two years.

"It's not a shock. I think Peter enjoyed the hockey aspect of being at Lowell, but he had some other concerns with other parts of his university life," Lowell coach Blaise MacDonald told the Lowell Sun.

The report also said that Vetri could decide to transfer to Colorado College or St. Cloud State.

Last season, Vetri played 25 games and had a 2.52 goals against average. This season, starting every game but one, his goals against average dropped to 3.58 with a .892 save percentage as the team suffered through a disappointing season.

Vinny Monaco earned the only other start of the season, defeating Boston College.
