Sioux Trio Apologize For Actions

GRAND FORKS, N.D. North Dakota players Robbie Bina, Jonathan Toews and T.J. Oshie released a statement today, apologizing for their roles in a recent incident at a Grand Forks business.
That incident, which involved six minors in all, took place at a local establishment called Judy's Tavern. Toews and Oshie were cited for being minors on the premises of an establishment where alcohol is served. Bina, 24, was cited for opening the door to the police vehicle that Oshie and Toews we being held, then walking away.
"On Sunday, Jan. 28, I unfortunately made a mistake that I will not be able to take back," Bina said in the statement. "I do not hold anybody responsible other than myself. I would also like to apologize to the University of North Dakota and the surrounding community for my actions on that date."
Toews added, "I would like to apologize to the UND community and young Fighting Sioux hockey fans as well as my teammates for my selfish actions. I have taken complete responsibility for what has happened, and I hope that the focus can be restored upon my teammates and the rest of the 2006-07 Fighting Sioux hockey season."
And Oshie said, "I would like to apologize to the University of North Dakota and to the fans for my actions. I take full responsibility for what I did, and I would especially like to apologize to my teammates and coaches for any negative distractions that I brought to the team in this critical part of our season."
The statement released by the school said that none of the three players, nor coach Dave Hakstol, would comment any further on the situation this season.
It also said that, in addition to the legal cases pending against the trio, they are still subject to University of North Dakota disciplinary guidelines. Disciplinary actions will not be made public, Hakstol said, in accordance with University policy.
