O'Hanley, Motherwell Remain out for BC

CHN Staff Report

Boston College senior forward Brian O'Hanley and junior defenseman Brett Motherwell remain out of the lineup for Friday's home game against Maine.

The pair is each serving indefinite suspensions for "violation of team rules," the nature of which have not been specified by the school. Each played in the team's opening game, a loss to Michigan in the Icebreaker, but then sat the next night's consolation game and each game since then.

Boston College has played five games so far during the suspension of the two players, and is 3-0-2 in that span.

Nobody at Boston College could be reached for comment as of Friday's game time, leaving the players' status open to rampant speculation.

Motherwell, 21, from St. Charles, Ill., has seven goals and 51 points in 82 games with the Eagles.

O'Hanley, 22, from Quincy, Mass., six goals and 25 points in 112 games in his career. He had an assist in the Michigan game.

They were suspended for going to a party and missing curfew. It was supposed to be a 2 game suspension. The coach decided to make it 6 months because they would not tell what other players were at the party. That would end their hockley careers so everyone thank the coach for this. Motherwell will go on to the pros now and be better off BC should look into their coach no wonder they looses in the finals every year

How can you blame the coach for holding these guys to the standards by which all on the team are judged? It is you, my friend, who needs to grow up and realize that there are consequences for breaking the rules. Motherwell and OH chose their path and are now living with the results of their individual decisions. I have no doubt they knew of the consequences of their action both while breaking the curfew and by choosing to remin silent when asked to rat on others

Somthing tells me it was a lot worse than that. Insiders on the team said that Jerry wouldn't release a statement because it would be "on the cover of every newspaper" and they wouldn't suspend 2 kids who were on full scholarships and terrific athletes for staying out late. It also was bad enough that Motherwell left BC entirely and O'Hanley stayed only because it was his senior year.
