Maine Player Charged in Assault

CHN Staff Report

ORONO, Maine — Maine freshman Tanner House has been charged with unlawful sexual touching and assault after an incident at an establishment near the Maine campus over the weekend.

House, 21, of Cochrane, Alberta, Canada, is alleged to have grabbed a female patron's breast. He has been suspended indefinitely from competition by Maine until the school can review all the facts, according to the Bangor Daily News, quoting Maine spokesperson Joe Carr.

House has one goal and one assist in seven games this season.

The incident occurred around 1:15 a.m. The woman said she didn't know House. Bouncers followed House and led him to police. He was brought back to the club and issued a summons. He is scheduled to appear Dec. 13 at 3rd District Court in Bangor.

Maine recently has established new rules of discipline, imposed by school president Robert Kennedy following his findings that more than dozen athletes and three coaches have been in trouble with the law since spring 2006.
