Gerbe Suspended by Hockey East

CHN Staff Report

WAKEFIELD, Mass. — Hockey East commissioner Joe Bertagna suspended Boston College forward Nathan Gerbe for Saturday's game against New Hampshire. The suspension stemmed from actions in Friday night's 3-3 tie with Merrimack at Conte Forum.

Playing without Gerbe, the injured Brock Bradford and Dan Bertram, and Brett Motherwell and Brian O'Hanley, who continue to sit out with indefinite team-imposed suspensions, BC lost to New Hampshire, 5-2.

"While a suspension might not have been forthcoming on last night's actions alone, this is not the first time this season that I have been made aware of inappropriate behavior from Nathan," said Bertagna. "Given the fact that he had already been put on notice, I felt that supplemental discipline was in order in this instance."

The league was not specific on what those actions were.

Gerbe had a team-leading four goals in eight games going into Saturday.
