Gerbe Suspended by Hockey East
CHN Staff Report
WAKEFIELD, Mass. Hockey East commissioner Joe Bertagna suspended Boston College forward Nathan Gerbe for Saturday's game against New Hampshire. The suspension stemmed from actions in Friday night's 3-3 tie with Merrimack at Conte Forum.
Playing without Gerbe, the injured Brock Bradford and Dan Bertram, and Brett Motherwell and Brian O'Hanley, who continue to sit out with indefinite team-imposed suspensions, BC lost to New Hampshire, 5-2.
"While a suspension might not have been forthcoming on last night's actions alone, this is not the first time this season that I have been made aware of inappropriate behavior from Nathan," said Bertagna. "Given the fact that he had already been put on notice, I felt that supplemental discipline was in order in this instance."
The league was not specific on what those actions were.
Gerbe had a team-leading four goals in eight games going into Saturday.
