ECAC Suspends Burgdoerfer

The ECAC league office announced Thursday that Rensselaer sophomore defenseman Erik Burgdoerfer has been suspended for one game as a result of a hitting-from-behind incident in the Engineers' game against Cornell on Friday, January 11.

In the third period, Burgdoerfer checked Big Red forward Joe Scali from behind into the boards and was assessed a game disqualification penalty, automatically prohibiting him from playing in the Engineers' Saturday night game against Colgate.

The additional one game suspension means Burgdoerfer is ineligible to play Friday, Jan. 18 against cross-town rival Union.
