Ehn Breaks Leg

CHN Staff Report

COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. — Air Force forward Eric Ehn, a finalist for last year's Hobey Baker Award, broke his left fibula Saturday when he collided feet first into the boards in the loss to Colorado College.

Ehn is expected to undergo further evaluation this week to determine the extent of the ligament damage, according to the Colorado Springs Gazette.

The fibula is the smaller of the two bones connecting the knee to the ankle. Nonetheless, Ehn is likely out for the remainder of the regular season.

Ehn is the Falcons' leading scorer, and had an assist in Friday's 5-2 upset win over Denver. For the season, Ehn has six goals and 25 points. Last season, in 40 games, Ehn collected 24 goals and 64 points in leading Air Force to its first-ever NCAA tournament appearance after winning the Atlantic Hockey tournament.

It's all the fault of those dirty CC players. The entire team should be suspended indefinitely, until the real culprit can be identified and apprehended. Had they not maliciously broken his leg, they would have lost to the POWERHOUSE THAT IS AFA!

Our hearts goes out to Eric. May he have a speedy recovery. He's a great young man and an exceptional player.

I was at the game - It was CC player Bill Sweatt that pulled him down in front of the goal at high speed. Cheesy play and he only got 2 minutes for ending his seaon/career. Of course Sweatt was the number 2 star of the game - sheesh. Ehn is an awesome player - along with the rest, he brings great spark to AFA! They are fun to watch!

Hey CaveoFalco, do you really think it was Sweatt's intention to end Ehn's season? You were there I wasn't but from what my buddy told me who was there, they were both skating at high speed towards the puck. Whatever transpired certainly cannot be compared to a situation where one player intentionally tries to hurt another (Paukovitch/Bina play). Look at Sweatt's reputation....he's a skilled playmaker, not some goon who's only sent out to hurt people.

CaveoFalco, I was at the game, too, and Eric Ehn is my favorite player on either team, so I was especially sad to see him go down. It was certainly worthy of a two minute minor penalty, but it was not a dirty play. Most people who understand hockey should know that. They were both both skating hard after a loose puck, Billy Sweatt tried to lift Ehn's stick and caught his skate or leg (I couldn't tell which) instead. They both went down hard. It was two players husling like crazy with an unfortunate consequence.

It may have seemed that Billy Sweat was trying to take ehn down but it was probably just a fight for the puck that turned out bad.Billy is a good guy and its not like him to do some thing like that. i was at the game but i didnt see it happen
