Colgate Loses St. Pierre

CHN Staff Report

Colgate junior defenseman Nick St. Pierre, a 2006 ECAC Hockey all-rookie team selection and an assistant captain for the Raiders, suffered a season-ending injury in Sunday's quarterfinal game at Clarkson and will not play in this weekend's ECAC Hockey Championships.

During the first period of Sunday's Game 3, St. Pierre broke his hand after taking a hit to the right of the Raider net while breaking the puck out of his own end.

St. Pierre skated in 32 games this season, and contributed one goal and seven assists for eight points. One of the team's most prolific shot-blockers, he ranks second for the Raiders with 45 blocked shots this year. Last season, he led Colgate's defensemen with 23 points in 40 games.

The Raiders take on No. 15 Princeton in the first semifinal of the ECAC Championship on Friday, Mar. 21, at 4 p.m. The winner of the game will advance to the title game, where it will face the winner of the semifinal between No. 16 Harvard and No. 20 Cornell, on Saturday at 7 p.m. Both semifinals and the championship game will be televised on Time Warner Sports in Upstate New York, as well as on SportsNet New York and the NHL Network.

This is the kind of crap that happens when you have reffing like we had at cheel the past weekend. I sincerely hope that ECACH takes a close look at what went on this week at Clarkson as far as officiating is concerned and addresses the issue. Joe Ross (saturday's ref) and Andy MacDonald (sunday's ref) were both allowing way to much to go on both sides. Paul Stewart, Fix the Problem!

How true.T he games start out with cluch and grab and escalate to smash and crash. It sure takes away from the quality hockey that this league can provide.

Wow, it sounds like WCHA refs suited up in ECAC officials' uniforms!

so, True this had to be the worst officiating that I have ever seen. I know the refs didn't want to call anything that might end someone's season but you have to draw the line somewhere. I have to say it made me almost hate to watch the game.
