Niagara Junior Rogers Signs NHL Deal

CHN Staff Report

Niagara announced Sunday that junior forward Kyle Rogers has signed with the NHL's Toronto Maple Leafs and will therefore forgo his remaining NCAA eligibility.

An official announcement will be made at a press conference on Monday afternoon at Niagara's Dwyer Arena.

Rogers scored 10 goals and 13 assists — both of which were career highs — in 34 games this season, while also accumulating 40 penalty minutes.

Rogers is the second Niagara player to leave school early this season. In February, junior Les Reaney signed a professional contract with the NHL's Edmonton Oilers.

On Friday, Niagara lost in the first round of the NCAA tournament. The Purple Eagles entered the tournament after winning the College Hockey America tournament championship.
