Nodl Signs with Flyers
CHN Staff Report
The Philadelphia Flyers' raid on college hockey continued today with the signing of St. Cloud State sophomore Andreas Nodl.
Nodl, the College Hockey News Rookie of the Year in 2006-07, was a second-round pick of the Flyers in the 2006 draft.
Nodl, a native of Vienna, Austria, is the fourth college player with eligibility remaining to sign with the Flyers organization since that player's season ended — joining Matt Clackson (Western Michigan), Michael-Lee Teslak (Michigan Tech) and Jon Kalinski (Minnesota State).
Nodl broke out with 46 points his freshman season and was a plus-16. He finished third in scoring in the WCHA this season, though his production actually dropped, going to 44 points and a minus-6.
Congratulations Andreas ~ We are very proud of you and your success! We are truly going to MISS YOU very much at SCSU, however, we knew you were not going to be with us for much longer as YOU are a truly a very talented and energized young Hockey Player. Congratulations! If you ever want me to send you more of my "Special Treats", just let me know and they will be in the mail to you. :) Greatest Hockey Fans!

Nodl will be the next Husky to make a name for himself in the NHL.

This is a sad day. The Nodl sign my son displayed at St. Cloud State games, which hangs on his bedroom wall, will come down this evening.
Best wishes, Andi. Go to he--, NHL.

Should have stayed like the North Dakota group did, Nodl has two linemates in Lasch and Roe coming back on a line each 40+ points. Granted there losing Dey and Hartman but other than that a young crop of forwards come back with 5 of there top 6 Defensemen coming back. Nodl was the glue that held that together without him I don't think they have a shot to finish in the top 5 in the WCHA next year.

Minnesota, I think those pacts to stay will be very few, very far between. I was shocked when I read in the GF Herald that they had decided to stay. There have been so many instances when we can say "if ony so-and-so had stayed!" But I do agree: they could have been a very potent offense next season (heck, they still can be).

Making money while playing hockey must seem so much more attractive than reading textbooks and competing for grades...

Nodl what were you thinking? You just broke up St. Cloud's triple threat. You had a legitimate chance of winning the WCHA and maybe going far in the Frozen Four next year. Bad move, Bad move you college drop out

it's surprising that the so called "raid" on college hockey by the flyers, that they would not go after their first pick from last year in van Riemsdyke.

I am not sure why everyone gets so wrapped up in college players leaving and blames the NHL. It is something that has now become a reality, and while everyone claims it ruins college hockey, the reality is if players didn't have the option to leave college to go pro, we wouldn't even have the talent in college in the first place--they would all go to other leagues. I know that if I were given the chance to make a great deal of money doing my lifelong dream, I would take that opportunity. As for the fan who now said his child has to take down the Nodl signs in his room, that is just sad. Why not let your child have that connection and support Nodl as he continues in the NHL? I love following former college players in the NHL and as they make a larger and larger presence in the big league (even if they were only in college for a season or two), it brings excellent exposure to the college game. As a result, we are only gong to see more and more star players come through college.

I am scared to read about the Sioux players leaveing after this season is over. Nodl was a good college player. I am sure he will be missed in St. Cloud. On the other hand the Huskies have a tremendous group coming in from the Minnesota high school ranks. Players I was hoping would have come West instead of South.

Jordy Christian (Moorhead), Jared Festler (Little Falls), and Drew Leblanc(Hermantown) will help soften the blow to SCSU for next year.
