Frazee Signs with Devils

CHN Staff Report

MINNEAPOLIS — Minnesota junior goalie Jeff Frazee is giving up his final year of eligibility and has signed a deal with the New Jersey Devils, the team that held his draft rights.

Frazee, a second-round pick of the Devils in 2005, was a former U.S. World Junior team goaltender, but had lost his starting job this season to freshman Alex Kangas.

Frazee played 14 games this season, but his last appearance came Jan. 12 at St. Cloud State, a relief appearance. His last start came when he allowed four goals in a loss to RIT on Dec. 29.

Frazee was 14-3-1 with a 2.35 goals against average last season, but his .903 save percentage was sub-par.

The devils are very deep in the goaltending department. Looks like Frazee will be a backup next season too, probably in the ECHL.

no suprise, when he lost the starting job he had nothing to stay for....except maybe an EDUCATION

I can not understand how this kid was drafted and a guy like Clarkson's Leggio was not. Goaltending over the last three years (pre-Kangas) at U Minn was their Achilies Heel.

At least Kangas will still me around...

How did this kid get drafted and play on the U.S developmental team. He really should have stayed in school and got his degree because unless he buys a ticket he will never set foot in an NHL rink. As a Bulldog fan I am very sorry to see him leave UMTC.

None of you guys have any idea how good Jeff Frazee really is. I grew up playing with him and if you truly know hockey you know that goalies are streaky. The guy is solid and needs a little respect.

I guess if Frazee could stay awake during the games, maybe he coudl be good. otherwise the proof was there, he lost his starting job. bye-bye.

Frazee was not a good D1 goalie. He might have just jumped at the chance for a paycheck, and I can't blame him. Oh, and by the way...you can ALWAYS get an education at ANY NUMBER of universities. So, he can go back on his own dollar in the future. If he's completed his junior year, he should be well along in his studies. Note: ** should **

Sorry to see him go. I was hoping he would battle back and get his starting job back Good luck to him in the pros, he will need it. If he can't win a starting job in the college level, how can he win a starting job at the pro level?

I'm not a Gophers fan, but I find the comments about Jeff Frazee very unintelligent and disrespectful. I sure hope he'll prove all of you sofa-hockey-experts wrong ! Good luck, Jeff.

From all of us in Grand Forks we say good luck to you Mr. Frazee.

Thank you Grand Forks for your comment about Frazee. It is nice to see that one of your arch rivals wishes him good luck in Jeff's future. Jeff, I wish you would have stayed. Because you are a great goalie and you just hit a rough spot. I was just thinking that with you and Kangas back, what kind of season you guys would have had next year. You two would have probably have been the two best goalies in the league, and if not the nation. Take care, and I wish you nothing but the best for you in your future.

Come on, Frazee had some hot games but overall he was a bust. He actually got "YouTubed" for goodness sakes. Did you all see his last game against St.Cloud? Pathetic. Good luck to him in in his future and the the pros. He will need it.
