CN8 Closing Shop in New England

Affects Scheduled TV Games

CHN Staff Report

Comcast has decided to close shop in January on its New England version of in-house channel CN8, which affects a half dozen scheduled broadcasts of Boston University and Vermont games.

A CN8 studios sat across from the College of Fine Arts building on the BU campus.

Comcast SportsNet — which was formerly known as Fox New England — will attempt to pick up the affected BU games. They are:

Jan. 3 at Denver Cup
Jan. 17 vs. Boston College
Jan. 24 at New Hampshire
Feb. 21 at Northeastern
Feb. 28 vs. Massachusetts

Vermont games affected are:

Jan. 10 vs. Boston College
Feb. 7 vs. Providence

One New Hampshire game already scheduled will air, because it's prior to January. New Hampshire, however, was looking for a more permanent solution after its games were not picked up by New Hampshire Public TV this year, and this may limit the school's options.

Comcast Sports Net has an obligation to the Boston Celtics first, but will otherwise attempt to accomodate these broadcasts.
