WCHA Will Consider Lifting Expansion Moratorium
CHN Staff Report
The WCHA has agreed to at least vote on lifting its moratorium on expansion, the first step towards what Bemidji State is hoping will be acceptance into the league.
While not referencing Bemidji State specifically, it's well known that BSU hopes to apply for admittance. It has been unable to do so because of the moratorium.
Bemidji State is one of four schools in College Hockey America that is looking for a new home, with that conference on its last legs.
With a vote to lift the moratorium now on the agenda, the league's 10 faculty representatives will take the vote during its meetings in January at the NCAA Convention. If it approved lifting the moratorium, Bemidji State would then have to apply, and then be approved with another vote.
The WCHA's executive committee is made up of representatives from four member schools: North Dakota, Alaska-Anchorage, Denver and Minnesota.
