Maine's Darling Suspended

CHN Staff Report

According to the Bangor Daily News, Maine freshman goaltender Scott Darling has been suspended for Friday’s game against Merrimack for a “violation of team rules.”

Darling has helped the Black Bears quickly get past the departure of esteemed netminder Ben Bishop, by taking the starting job by the horns. He is 5-1-0 this season with a 1.00 GAA and a .961 save percentage through six games. He started both games in a sweep against Providence last weekend, including a shutout.

Maine will have to turn instead to junior Dave Wilson, who has struggled to a 3.35 GAA and an .890 save percentage to go with a 1-2-0 record.

Wilson’s career numbers are 3-8-0, 3.56 GAA, .881 save percentage.

It is expected that Darling will start Saturday’s game.
