ECAC Suspends Dartmouth's Stejskal

CHN Staff Report

ALBANY, N.Y. — The ECAC has suspended Dartmouth sophomore defenseman Joe Stejskal for one game because of an incident in the Big Green's loss at Yale last Saturday.

As a result, Stejskal is not eligible to compete in Dartmouth's next contest versus Cornell on Friday.

Stejskal was cited for what was deemed a cheap hit on Yale forward Sean Backman with 20 seconds remaining in the game, right after Backman had scored an empty-net goal to seal the Bulldogs' 3-1 win. The played ignited a brawl, that led to 46 minutes in penalties, none of which, however, were called on Stejskal.

Stejskal, who leads the team in goal scoring for a defenseman, scored his seventh of the season against Yale on Saturday, the team's only goal of the game. That goal broke a drought of 15 games without one.

Stejskal is an NHL Draft pick of the Montreal Canadiens.
