Notre Dame Radio Voice Dies
CHN Staff Report
SOUTH BEND, Ind. Mike Lockert, the play-by-play voice of Notre Dame hockey for the past seven years, passed away suddenly early this morning, in his sleep. He was 44.
No other details are available at this time.

Lockert was known as extremely amiable, and a passionate voice in the sport. His story was unique, in that he was an African-American from Los Angeles broadcasting college hockey, and a passionate Southern Cal football fan working at Notre Dame.
Lockert told his personal story last year, in an online article at the CCHA web site. Irish games are broadcast on ESPN Radio 1490 in South Bend.
Notre Dame is scheduled to play Michigan State tonight at the Joyce Center.
