Schafer Suspended One Game for Comments
CHN Staff Report
ITHACA, N.Y. The ECAC suspended Cornell head coach Mike Schafer for one game as a result of his comments following Friday's loss to Rensselaer in Game 1 of the ECAC quarterfinal series.
Based upon the action by the League, Schafer will serve his suspension this evening when Cornell hosts Rensselaer. The suspension assessed is in accordance with ECAC Hockey Policies and Procedures.
Commissioner Steve Hagwell made the decision after speaking with Schafer in person, once Hagwell arrive in Ithaca for the game.
Among the comments, Schafer criticized the officiating in lengthy remarks to the media, saying that the game was not called tightly enough, and in opposition to the way games have been called all season.
