Dries Dismissed by New Hampshire

CHN Staff Report

MANCHESTER, N.H. — New Hampshire coach Dick Umile has dismissed left wing Danny Dries from the team, less than 48 hours before his team is set to play in the NCAA tournament. The move was made Thursday, and Dries did not travel with the team to Manchester for today's game against North Dakota.

Dries is the team's fourth-leading scorer with 10 goals, and sixth in points with 21. Last season, he was 11-17--28.

Sophomore Greg Manz, who played in four games this season, will take Dries' spot in the lineup.

The reason for the move by Umile was not disclosed, other than to say it was a violation of team rules.

New Hampshire hasn't played since losing its Hockey East quarterfinal series to Boston College two weeks ago.
