George Gwozdecky about Rico Blasi
The Denver coach discusses Blasi, the player he coached at Miami and who was his assistant at Denver. Gwozdecky has shown obvious pride in Blasi's team's run to the championship game, even the Gwozdecky's Pioneers were Miami's first victim in this NCAA tournament.
Miami coach Enrico Blasi on eve of title game
Miami coach Enrico Blasi talks about prepping his team for the NCAA championship game against BU.
WASHINGTON, D.C. It's the Friday between the semifinal and championship game at the Frozen Four. That means another team practice, and later the Hobey Baker Award ceremony.
Until then, hear audio from three prominent Division I coaches, including the two participants in the title game.
BU coach Jack Parker reflects on various topics, including his team's last trip to the Frozen Four, and a memorable win over heavily-favored Michigan, in 1997. He also discussed "BU hockey," and how he needed to change the attitudes of some players this year.
Miami coach Enrico Blasi spoke about his team's prospects going into the championship game, as it makes a run from the No. 4 seed in the West, just as Notre Dame did last season.
And Denver coach George Gwozdecky, a two-time national champion himself, spoke about his one-time recruit and assistant coach, Blasi. Gwozdecky was the coach at Miami when Blasi played, and then brought him to Denver as an assistant coach. Miami defeated Denver in the first round of this year's NCAA tournament.
