Schroeder Tops 115 NCAA-related Players on CSS List
CHN Staff Report
Minnesota's Jordan Schroeder is the top-ranked current or incoming college hockey player among North American skaters, according to the NHL's Central Scouting Service, as this year's NHL Draft approaches.
The draft will be held this weekend, starting Friday, in Montreal.
Schroeder is coming off a spectacular freshman season with the Gophers, when he was named College Hockey News Rookie of the Year.
Right behind Schroeder on the list is John Moore, who played for Chicago of the USHL last season, and is headed to Colorado College.
Only nine players, including three goalies, on the CSS list played in college hockey already. But there are 106 others that are NCAA recruits for next season.
Justin Florek, ranked No. 81 among skaters, played at Northern Michigan last season, and is the next highest ranked after Schroeder.
St. Cloud State recruit Michael Lee is the highest-ranked college goaltender, at No. 4. Three goalies who played last season in the NCAA are on the list, led by Merrimack's Jon Cannata (No. 15). The other two were competing participants in last April's NCAA championship game -- Boston University's Kieran Millan (17) and Miami's Connor Knapp (19).
