Denver Tops WCHA Polls

CHN Staff Report

Denver has placed first in both the WCHA coaches and media polls, with North Dakota second and Wisconsin third.

Meanwhile, sophomore forward Jordan Schroeder, the CHN Rookie of the Year last season, was named preseason Player of the Year in both polls. He shares the honor from the coaches with St. Cloud State forward Ryan Lasch.

Denver took eight of 10 first place votes in the coaches’ poll and 23 of 25 first place tallies in the media poll. Minnesota received one first place vote from the media and North Dakota received all of the other first place predictions.

The remaining teams in the coaches’ poll, in order, are St. Cloud State, Minnesota-Duluth, Minnesota State, Colorado College, Alaska-Anchorage and Michigan Tech. The media have Colorado College picked seventh and Minnesota State eighth.

St. Cloud State goaltender Mike Lee was the preseason Rookie of the Year in both polls.
