Roe To Sit After Team Suspension
CHN Staff Report
ST. CLOUD, Minn. St. Cloud State junior forward Garrett Roe, the team's leading scorer, will miss Friday's game against North Dakota, serving a one-game suspension for a violation of team rules. The exact violation has not been disclosed.
Roe, who has 2-6—8 in eight games, has previously only missed one other game in his three years with the Huskies.
According to the St. Cloud Times, Roe has a bruised eye, but coach Bob Motzko and Roe say it doesn't have to do with the suspension, and Roe didn't get into a fight.
"I really can't say — but it was nothing big and it wasn't because of a fight, I'll tell you that," Roe told the Times. "Other than that, I can't tell you anything. I can't give details on my personal life."
The team will get some boost with the return of forwards Travis Novak and David Eddy from injury. Novak, a sophomore left wing, hurt his shoulder Oct. 17 against Union and hasn't played since. Eddy, a freshman, has been out with a high ankle sprain since before the season, and will be making his career debut Friday.
"I probably wouldn't have missed four games this time but it was weird the way I got hit and that made it a little tougher to come back from," Novak told the Times. "It was hard watching, because you believe you can be out there and help the team. ... And, with (Roe) out, we're all going to have to step up and play well to make up for him."
Sam Zabkowicz was also out five games, but returned in St. Cloud State's most recent game, Oct. 31 against Michigan Tech.
