Wisconsin, Denver Each Have Two Hobey Finalists

CHN Staff Report

Three goaltenders are on the list of 10 finalists for this year's Hobey Baker Award, it was announced today.

The goalies include WCHA Player of the Year Marc Cheverie from Denver, ECAC Goaltender of the Year Ben Scrivens, and Miami sophomore Cody Reichard, who helped take the Red Hawks to the Frozen Four last season.

Joining that group is another Denver Pioneer, senior forward Rhett Rakhshani. The other forwards are Wisconsin's Blake Geoffrion, RPI's Chase Polacek, Northern Michigan's Mark Olver, New Hampshire's Bobby Butler and Maine's Gustav Nyquist.

The only defenseman on the list is Wisconsin's Brendan Smith, who leads all backliners nationally in goals this season.

The list includes four players from the WCHA, and two each from Hockey East, the ECAC and CCHA.

The final three will be announced prior to the Frozen Four, with the winner announced during the Frozen Four, Friday, April 9, in Detroit at 7 p.m.
