Shattenkirk, Cohen Leave for NHL Deals

CHN Staff Report

Boston University has lost two more players early to the pros.

A week after losing junior forward Nick Bonino, two more juniors — defensemen Colby Cohen and Kevin Shattenkirk — have signed deals with the Colorado Avalanche, the team that drafted them both.

Cohen, whose overtime goal won the 2009 NCAA Championship for BU, was among the nation's top-scoring backliners with 14 goals and 30 points in 36 games. He was a second-round pick of Colorado in 2007.

Shattenkirk had seven goals and 29 points in playing all 38 games for BU, but was a minus-2. He played 121 games over three seasons for the Terriers. He was drafted in the first round by Colorado in 2007.
