Ruth Leaves Notre Dame

Notre Dame junior defenseman Teddy Ruth has signed a three-year entry-level contract with the NHL's Columbus Blue Jackets.

Ruth, from Naperville, Ill., was drafted in the second round, No. 46 overall, by Washington in 2007. He was traded in 2008 as part of the Sergei Fedorov deal.

Ruth, 6-foot, 201 pouns, had no goals and five assists in 22 games this season for the Irish. He missed a large portion of the season due to injury.
