9 Incoming Notre Dame Freshmen Arrested

SOUTH BEND, Ind. Nine incoming Notre Fame freshmen were arrested late Saturday night, among 44 students — 27 of which were athletes — arrested in all, after a local party got out of control.
Forty-two of the 44 were cited for underage drinking, including Nate Montana, a junior backup quarterback on the football team, and son of legend Joe Montana.
The nine incoming hockey players arrested were Jared Beers, Jeff Costello, David Gerths, Anders Lee, Joe Rogers, Steven Summerhays, Shayne Taker and Mike Voran. Meanwhile, North Dame defenseman and senior-to-be Joe Lavin and another student were arrested on charges of serving alcohol to minors. Lavin lives at the house where the arrrests were made, and Saturday was his 21st birthday, according to police reports.
Police were called to the scene after 1:30 a.m. after reports of fighting taking place near the party, on the block outside the house. As police arrived, 15 officers were needed to chase students that were trying to flee the scene. One female student hurt her arm while breaking a window trying to get out of the house.
According to police reports, the house has been the site of several other arrests in the past.
All students posted the bond of $150.
