BOSTON Boston University coach Jack Parker underwent successful heart bypass surgery on Friday, July 23, the school announced today.
According to a news release from the university, Parker is doing well, and is expected back behind the Terrier bench for the 2010-11 hockey season.
"The entire BU community wishes Jack a speedy recovery and respects his privacy during this time," BU athletic director Mike Lynch said. "We look forward to seeing him lead the Terriers on the ice this fall."
Parker is the longest tenured active coach at one school, having been BU's top man since 1973. He won's three national championships, including 2009, and his 833 wins are second among active coaches behind Boston College's Jerry York (850). Both are chasing Ron Mason's record of 924 at the Division I level.
