Mosey Dismissed from St. Cloud State

CHN Staff Report

One day after losing senior defenseman Chris Hepp to the Idaho Steelheads of the ECHL, St. Cloud State has removed the name of senior co-captain Tony Mosey from its roster. According to KVSC in St. Cloud, Mosey was dismissed because of a violation of team rules.

Reports have been circulating about members of the team getting in trouble for actions during their trip to Florida. St. Cloud State won the Florida Classic with wins over Cornell and Miami.

Mosey had not been at practice for the last couple of days.

In the mean time, the departure of Hepp and demotion of sophomore David Eddy may be related. Eddy was seen at practice wearing a green jersey Tuesday, typically reserved for extra skaters.

The university's announcement that freshman forward Bryce Johnson had left the team to return to the USHL's Omaha Lancers, is not believed to be related to the potential incident.

Hepp, Mosey and Eddy all have criminal histories, with Mosey's the most serious. He was arrested Sept. 20 on charges of felony destruction of property in Stearns County, Minnesota, where St. Cloud State University is located. He did not skate in the Huskies' first two games of the season against RIT and Clarkson in early October. Mosey has two minor consumption violations stemming from separate incidents in 2007, one in July before his freshman year and one in September just weeks after school began. Mosey was also charged with fleeing police and giving false information in the incident in July of that year.

Hepp was charged with possession of marijuana in Stearns County on Sept. 29. Eddy was recently reinstated after missing all of the first semester due to academic issues. Eddy was also given a minor consumption ticket in Stearns County in December 2009.

It is believed Eddy will be suspended for at least this weekend's series against Michigan Tech, although details of any suspension have not been revealed.
