CCHA Fines LSSU's Roque
CHN Staff Report
FARMINGTON HILLS, Mich. Following last week's one-game suspension, the CCHA has further disciplined Lake Superior State head coach Jim Roque by issuing a fine and public reprimanded.
The move was made, the league said, in accordance with the CCHA’s Code of Regulations for a violation of the league’s Good Conduct Policy.
“The CCHA has a number of post-game protocols for a coach to properly express their concerns over issues that may have occurred during the course of a game,” CCHA commissioner Tom Anastos said. “There is no excuse or acceptable explanation for public comments that challenge the integrity of the league’s on-ice officials or administrative processes.”
The action was taken by the league after a review of public comments attributed to the coach. The conference’s Good Conduct Policy stipulates that: “No employee (e.g., coaches, athletic staff members, etc.) or student-athlete of a member institution shall make derogatory remarks to the press or public about opponents or officials."
