HAVERHILL, Mass. Lou Spiotti, Chair of the Atlantic Hockey Executive Committee and RIT athletic director, announced today that Bob DeGregorio has signed a three-year contract extension to remain as commissioner of the conference through 2016.
“We in the Atlantic Hockey Association are very pleased to secure Bob DeGregorio’s services over the next three years,” Spiotti said. “Bob has played a critical role in the growth and development of the league. His leadership has been pivotal through some of the most demanding and challenging phases of Atlantic Hockey’s climb to success. We feel quite fortunate to be able continue this very successful partnership.”
Since the 2003-04 season, when DeGregorio was named commissioner, the league has gone through a lot of change. The league first started with nine teams and after the 2004-05 season it was down to eight. In 2006-07, he led the league through its first expansion, adding Air Force and RIT to the league. After the 2009-10 season, DeGregorio was instrumental in the league’s last expansion with the addition of Robert Morris and Niagara.
“We are very fortunate to have the most prominent and influential person in the hockey community as our commissioner for the next three years,” Bentley athletic director Bob DeFelice, former Chair of the
Executive Committee, said.
