Nebraska-Omaha's Raubenheimer Out For Season
CHN Staff Report
Nebraska-Omaha senior Zahn Raubenheimer will miss the remainder of the season with a broken bone in his foot, the Omaha World-Herald reported today.
Raubenheimer was injured in the third period of the Mavericks' game against Western Michigan on Saturday, while blocking a shot.
Raubenheimer was at practice Tuesday with his left foot in a cast. According to the report, he wouldn't be able to put weight on it, doctors day, for six weeks.
“It's really unfortunate, especially a senior going into his last four games of the season, and then considering the way he's been playing,” said center Brock Montpetit to the Omaha World-Herald. “He's been one of our best forwards for the last month. He blocked a shot, sacrificed his body for the team, and we should have won that game for him. He did that for the team, and he doesn't deserve something like that.”
UNO lost the game, 5-3.
Raubenheimer finishes the season with 6 goals and 11 points, and a team-high plus-6 rating.
“I don't think it's hit me yet completely, that I'm out for as long as I am and that it could be the end of my hockey career at UNO,” Raubenheimer told the paper. “But what happened happened. There's nothing I can do about it. I just want to be the best leader I can be.”
