by Mike McMahon/Staff Writer
Harvard has lost two of its top defensive recruits for next season, according to two separate sources.
Brandon Fortunato ('96) is one of the top defensemen for the U.S. National Team Development Program this season. In 22 USHL games, the New York native has totaled 16 points (1 goal, 15 assists). According to sources, top teams from several conferences are now eyeing Fortunato, who has re-opened his recruitment.
Russ Bitely, a scout for HockeyProspect.com, first reported Fortunato decommitted.
Another source indicated that '95 defenseman Adam Plant, who has totaled 34 points (5 goals, 29 assists) in 54 games this season with the West Kelowna Warriors of the British Columbia Hockey League, has decommitted from Harvard.
The Crimson now have three defenseman committed for this fall and will graduate three defensemen from its blue line this summer.
