CC Loses Top D-Man Kivihalme

CHN Staff Report

Colorado College defenseman Teemu Kivihalme has withdrawn from school so he can become an NHL free agent, The Hockey News reported today.

As a result, CC loses its top returning defenseman. Kivihalme was going to be a senior next season.

Kivihalme was selected by Nashville in the fifth round of the 2013 NHL Draft. He is able to become a free agent because he is four years removed from his draft year.

Kivihalme had 10 goals and 36 assists in 107 games for the Tigers. He was a minus-33 during his sophomore season, but got that down to minus-8 last season.
