New Hampshire 4, Providence 1 - Saturday, March 16, 2013
New Hampshire keeps the series alive behind a hat trick from Matt Willows. Providence goalie Jon Gillies let up a rare bad goal midway through the third that gave UNH a 3-1 cushion.

Providence 3, New Hampshire 2 - Friday, March 15, 2013
Freshman Nick Saracino scored the game-winning goal at 8:06 of the third period to cap off a three-point night, as Providence won Game 1 and got itself close to that NCAA bubble.

Maine 4, New Hampshire 4 - Saturday, March 9, 2013
Maine didn't have much to play for -- it could've finished seventh with a win, but not much difference with eighth. But New Hampshire had a lot to play for, and as it turns out, this tie to rival Maine was a killer. So credit Maine for gutting this out and coming from behind for the tie. As a result, New Hampshire fell from the potential to get first place, to fifth place and out of a home-ice spot for the playoffs, in the razor-thin Hockey East race. New Hampshire has to travel to Providence for a quarterfinal series. ... Maine fell behind 3-1, then actually rallied to take the lead, before UNH pulled out the tie late.

New Hampshire 4, Massachusetts 0 - Saturday, March 2, 2013
Senior John Henrion scored the first hat trick of his career, and Casey DeSmith stopped 25 shots for his sixth career shutout as UNH moved into first place by itself -- pending Sunday's Lowell game. UNH earned three points on the weekend, after coming into it in a four-way tie for first. BC and Providence split their two games. See more in our Hockey East blog.

New Hampshire 1, Vermont 1 - Saturday, February 23, 2013
New Hampshire gets three points against Vermont, but sorely need four in terms of trying to catch first place in Hockey East. Nonetheless, the Wildcats remain in good shape in the Pairwise, and Vermont solidifies its position for two of the final Hockey East playoff spots.
“I thought it was a great hockey game, they're an excellent team,” said head coach Kevin Sneddon. “I look at the progress we've made since the first time we played them in November when they were clearly the better hockey team. They were two very close, hard-fought games this weekend.”

Merrimack 4, New Hampshire 1 - Saturday, February 2, 2013
Warrior netminder Sam Marotta made 51 saves as Merrimack continued its strong play of late. The win gave it a sweep of the weekend over Lowell and New Hampshire, and suddenly the Warriors are withing striking distance of the Pairwise bubble. Still have a ways to go, though, but it was a surge that most didn't see coming. Merrimack is now third in Hockey East. ... New Hampshire missed out on an opportunity to tie Boston College for first place, but still has one game in hand.

New Hampshire 6, Merrimack 2 - Saturday, January 26, 2013

New Hampshire moved within two points of first place, and is No. 3 in the Pairwise, after splitting a home-and-home with Merrimack. This game was played in Manchester, N.H., and drew 6,605. Friday, Merrimack got a 3-2 win when Brian Christie scored seven seconds into the third period, for the game winner. Jeff Wyer got the start in net for New Hampshire, and played pretty well despite the loss. Coach Dick Umile went back to Casey DeSmith for Saturday's game, and DeSmith, who has been embattled lately after a great start, came up with a huge effort, making 35 stops and keeping his team in the game while Merrimack was pouring it on in the second period.

Providence 6, New Hampshire 5 - Saturday, January 19, 2013
See our complete story on Providence. As for New Hampshire, going 3-4-1 now in the last eight is a little bit of a slump after such a great start, and certainly this game was not very good defensively, but the Wildcats are in plenty good shape, and have a relatively favorable schedule the rest of the way, which they need to take advantage of.

New Hampshire 2, Boston College 1 - Saturday, January 12, 2013
This was a huge win for UNH on the back end of a home and home, after getting thumped in Boston on Friday, to show it could beat elite teams. And it doesn't get more elite than BC. Read all about in our blog.

New Hampshire 5, Rensselaer 2 - Saturday, January 5, 2013
RPI couldn't bounce back from a tough, overtime loss to Boston University on Friday, and New Hampshire pretty much controlled this game throughout. UNH didn't have to play Friday, making it extra tough on the Engineers. A solid win for UNH, which has a home-and-home with Boston College next weeks. The teams will face each other as 1-3 in the Pairwise. ... See more in our CHN Blog.

Dartmouth 4, New Hampshire 1 - Sunday, December 30, 2012
Dartmouth, being an Ivy League team, had played just 11 games coming into this tournament. So it was hard to tell with the sample size what to make of the Big Green. You wanted to believe this was finally a team that Bob Gaudet could get to the NCAAs. He's been so close so many times since taking over for his alma mater in 1997, but the program still hasn't been there since Gaudet was a player. ... Now, they're not there yet, but this was the game you could point to that could really set them on that path. No skirting around the bubble like they had in years past, only to fall short with a loss in the ECAC semis or what not. No, a win over New Hampshire, and Dartmouth is in the driver's seat.
So going out there and handling in-state rival UNH is huge in so many ways for this program. There's a lot of names that aren't well known to people outside New Hampshire, but who have a lot of talent that is busting through this year.

New Hampshire 3, Boston University 1 - Sunday, November 18, 2012
Casey DeSmith fell just short of his fourth shutout, but the UNH netminder continued his dazzling play as the resurgent Wildcats took down BU. He stopped 45 shots, including all 17 in the third period, and is a big reason why UNH is back on the national scene in a big way this season after a mediocre 2011-12.

New Hampshire 4, Vermont 0 - Saturday, November 10, 2012
Casey DeSmith recorded his third shutout of the season. “We got taught a lesson on how to play hockey tonight," Vermont coach Kevin Sneddon said. ... Read the full story in our Hockey East blog.

New Hampshire 0, Northeastern 0 - Saturday, October 27, 2012

photo: Josh Gibney
Well, OK, New Hampshire didn't score in this one, and it was first non-win of the season. But 34 saves from a red-hot goaltender, Casey DeSmith, is plenty to be happy about nonetheless for the Wildcats. Read all about the game in our Hockey East Blog.

Providence 3, New Hampshire 2 - Sunday, March 17, 2013
Providence comes from behind to defeat UNH and win the series in three games. Jon Gillies was just outstanding again for Providence in goal. New Hampshire sees a Hockey East tournament come to another disappointing end, but is very likely to still be playing in two weekends, when it hosts the NCAA Northeast Regional.
