Union coach Rick Bennett, one win from his second consecutive Frozen Four, has had his contract extended another year, which will take him through the 2019-20 season.
Bennett, in his second season as head coach, helped lead Union to its fourth-straight 20-win season, and 48-21-12 so far. Union also won its second straight ECAC tournament championship.
“The job that Rick Bennett has done for the ...

The end of the college season for all but four teams, has brought the usual bevy of players leaving early to sign NHL deals. Some of those players were drafted, and some were not.
In addition to those already signed, the end of the first week of April brought a bunch more.
The list includes Union goaltender Troy Grosenick, who leaves after three seasons to sign a free agent deal with the San Jose ...

Union's power play wasn't that good heading into the East Regional. In fact, at 1-for-13 in as many chances, it was actually pretty bad.
But the Dutchmen scored three power-play goals Saturday night in their dominant 5-1 win over Boston College, one in each period -- from Josh Jooris, Shayne Gostisbehere and Daniel Ciampini. There was nothing dramatically different about Union's power play here, but ...

For the four teams traveling to Providence, R.I., for the East Regional of the NCAA tournament, the path was very different. The field contains the defending national champion, a national semifinalist from last season, the tournament's No. 1 overall seed and a conference champion that nearly ceased to exist as recently as eight years ago.

Up and down its lineup, Union had the talent all season to put together a run. Coming off a Frozen Four appearance, it seemed like the Dutchmen were capable of something similar.
Inconsistency plagued Union for much of the season and threatened to ruin it. Right up until the championship game, Union still had to win to make the NCAAs.
But Union knew it was on to something in recent weeks, and it ...

Union had its share of post-Frozen Four-hangover ups and downs this season. But things have come together, and Friday, the Dutchmen appeared to be on the kind of mission they were on last year. The 5-0 trouncing of Yale was arguably Union's best game of the season, and it looked like a team poised for another deep run into spring.
“I thought tonight was a great team effort,” said Union coach Rick ...

The road to Atlantic City has ended with four teams advancing to the semifinals this weekend. Brown is the biggest surprise of the four and could cause a stir in the NCAA tournament picture if it were to win this weekend. Quinnipiac, Union and Yale will join the Bears in the semifinals as the teams fight for the Whitelaw Cup to be awarded on Saturday night.
