Cruthers, Serratore Earn Top CHA Honors

Robert Morris senior forward Ryan Cruthers was named CHA Player of the Year while senior forward Joel Gasper earned Student-Athlete of the Year honors.

The other top honor went to Bemidji State's Matt Read, who was named Rookie of the Year. Beavers head coach Tom Serratore garnered Coach of the Year honors after leading the Beavers to their third regular-season title over the last five seasons.

Cruthers was a unanimous All-CHA First Team selection leading the Colonials with 48 points (22 goals, 26 assists) in 33 regular-season games. He led the conference in points (31), goals (14) and shorthanded goals (3), and was third in assists (17).

Read, a unanimous All-Rookie Team selection, led the Beavers in scoring with 25 points (eight goals, 17 assists) and ranked fifth overall with 21 points in 20 conference games which also was tops among all newcomers.

Gasper maintained a perfect 4.00 cumulative grade-point average in manufacturing engineering. On the ice, he is the team captain and was voted as RMU's most inspirational player and student-athlete of the year the past two seasons. He tallied seven assists despite missing a portion of the season due to injury. The CHA Student-Athlete of the Year is voted on the by the conference athletic directors to honor
a senior student-athlete who excels both on and off the ice.
