Finley Remains Out; Status Uncertain

CHN Staff Report

GRAND FORKS, N.D. — North Dakota senior defenseman Joe Finley remains out of the lineup with a concussion, as the Sioux head to Harvard for a pair of games this weekend.

The 6-foot-7 senior was injured in the second game of the season, Oct. 11 vs. Massachusetts. Initially, it was thought he might only miss a handful of games.  Last month, he made the trip with the team to Colorado Springs and appeared ready to return. But he has not been with the team since.

Finley has been unreachable for comment. And Sioux coach Dave Hakstol has declined to discuss the matter, telling reporters only that Finley is out indefinitely.

North Dakota, off to a 5-8-1 start (4-5-1 WCHA), expected Finley to anchor the defense, if not the whole lineup. The first No. 1 NHL Draft pick to play four seasons for the Sioux, he led the WCHA in plus-minus a year ago, and played in 40-plus games each of his first three seasons.
