Wisconsin Dismisses Thurber

CHN Staff Report

MADISON, Wis. — Wisconsin coach Mike Eaves has decided to dismiss sophomore center Matt Thurber from the team, according to the Wisconsin State Journal.

Thurber was placed on indefinite suspension by the university after violating its student-athlete discipline policy. The paper reports that Madison police charged Thurber with multiple misdemeanors after officers responded to a 911 call alleging a domestic incident involving a woman Feb. 8.

According to the article, the decision to drop Thurber from the team was Eaves' alone, and he made the decision after meeting with Thurber and his father.

Thurber has played in nine games this season, and had three assists. He will retain his scholarship through the end of this school year.
