CHN Staff Report

PRINCETON, N.J. — Merrimack's Stephane Da Costa has been named the 2010 CHN Rookie of the Year.

Da Costa, a native of Paris, France, won an unprecedented five consecutive Hockey East Rookie of the Month Awards this year, and was named Hockey East Rookie of the Year.

“He is a pretty talented player,” Northeastern head coach Greg Cronin said about Da Costa. “If he has the puck, he’s going to do something with it.”

Da Costa, 20, opened his freshman campaign with a bang, scoring five goals against Army. He finished with 16 goals and 45 points, and a plus-11, in 34 games.

Others under consideration were Andy Taranto (Alaska) and Danny Kristo (North Dakota).
