BREAKING: Geoffrion Wins Hobey

CHN Staff Report

DETROIT — Wisconsin senior forward Blake Geoffrion has won the 2010 Hobey Baker Award.

He is the first Badger to win college hockey's top individual honor in the award's 30-year history.

Geoffrion, who has 28 goals headed into Saturday's national championship game with Boston College, was the runner up for College Hockey News' Player of the Year award.

Geoffrion was the Most Outstanding Player of the NCAA West Regional, helping propel the Badgers back to the Frozen Four for the first time since the last national championship year of 2006. Geoffrion scored his 28th goal against RIT in Thursday's semifinal game, putting him one behind a fellow Hobey finalist Bobby Butler of New Hampshire for the national lead.
