Miele Signs with Phoenix

CHN Staff Report

Hobey Baker Award finalist Andy Miele, the nation's leading point scorer with 71, has signed an entry-level contract with the NHL's Phoenix Coyotes. The Miami senior was an undrafted free agent.

Miele completed his senior season with 24 goals and 47 assists in 39 games for the RedHawks. Miami lost in the first round of the NCAA Tournament last Saturday.

"We are very pleased to sign Andy," said Coyotes general manager Don Maloney. "He is a highly skilled and competitive player who had a great season at Miami University. He was one of the most sought after NCAA free agents and is a finalist for the Hobey Baker Award. We look forward to watching him develop and being a part of our organization for years to come."

Miele was the CCHA player of the year and First Team All-CHN selection this year. He helped lead the RedHawks to their first ever CCHA Tournament championship.

In 141 career games at Miami, Miele had 60 goals and 160 points.
