Wisconsin's Kerdiles Sidelined With NCAA Issue

CHN Staff Report

Left wing Nic Kerdiles, expected to be a key impact freshman for Wisconsin this season, is sidelined indefinitely while dealing with an NCAA issue.

According to the school, officials there are "working with the NCAA toward a resolution of the situation." Kerdiles is considered a strong student, and was a second-round NHL Draft pick by Anaheim last June.

After the team's exhibition game last night, Madison.com reported that Wisconsin coach Mike Eaves said the NCAA was looking at the matter for "a while," but would not specify.

“It’s not in my hands right now,” he told Madison.com.

According to a report on the U.S. of Hockey blog, Kerdiles may have inadvertantly ran afoul of NCAA regulations by offering, on his Twitter account, to exchange autographs for followers. The report also says that pictures posted on his Facebook account may have raised questions about his amateurism status.
