Manno Leaves Northeastern

CHN Staff Report

Northeastern sophomore forward Joseph Manno has left the university's hockey program and will join the Dubuque Fighting Saints of the USHL.

“After discussions with Joe, it became apparent he was not content with his role on the team and he decided to pursue other options,” Northeastern head coach Jim Madigan said in a release. “We wish him well on his future.”

In Dubuque, Manno will play alongside three Northeastern recruits, Michael Szmatula, Matt Benning and John Stevens.

On Thursday, the Fighting Saints traded Preston Hodge to Sioux Falls, opening a roster spot for a '92 player to join the team.

Cam Darcy left the Northeastern program last month and just last week, top '97 recruit Cam Askew decommitted.

The Montreal, Quebec, native skated in 46 career contests for Northeastern and logged 12 points (4-8-12) in two terms as a Husky. Manno accounted for five points (2-3-5) in 14 games up to this point in the 2012-13 season and accrued 12 penalty minutes (6-of-12) with a -1 rating.
