Freshman Mermis Leaves Denver for OHL

CHN Staff Report

Freshman defenseman Dakota Mermis has left Denver to sign with the London Knights of the Ontario Hockey League, according to multiple reports. The Knights are expected to announce the signing in a press conference Tuesday afternoon.

Mermis has played in all 19 games for Denver this season, registering one goal, three assists and a minus-1 rating. His older brother Jarrod is a junior forward for the Pioneers. Mermis will be heading to a London squad that is currently riding a 24-game winning streak.

His departure leaves the Pioneers with just six defensemen on their roster. Fortunately for them, Josiah Didier just returned from a high ankle sprain that had forced him to miss six games.
