Hockey East Suspends BU's Noonan for Additional Game

CHN Staff Report

BOSTON — Hockey East announced on Tuesday that Boston University defenseman Garrett Noonan will serve an additional one-game suspension following his game disqualification for a spearing major in Saturday's, 4-3, loss to Massachusetts-Lowell.

Noonan, a junior, received the major after spearing UML goaltender Doug Carr at 14 minutes, 13 seconds of the third period. The game disqualification comes with an automatic one-game suspension. Hockey East coordinator of officials Dan Schachte decided to give Noonan an additional game for his infraction, according to a release from the league.

Noonan will miss BU's home-and-home series with Providence, which begins Friday night at Schneider Arena. He is eligible to return for the Terriers' game at Massachusetts on Feb. 1.

On the season, Noonan, an assistant captain for the Terriers, has four goals and 11 assists and a plus-4 rating.
