Notre Dame Defenseman Suspended Indefinitely

Notre Dame junior defenseman Jared Beers has been suspended indefinitely following his arrest on three misdemeanor charges late Sunday in South Bend.

The 22-year old Beers, from nearby Mishawaka, Ind., was charged with criminal trespass, battery and resisting law enforcement.

According to a police report, and reported in the South Bend Tribune, Beers was asked to leave a local bar after he was seen trying take beer off the table of other patrons. A bar worker said that Beers refused to leave, and then punched her in the face, the police report said. The women claims Beers then stepped on her and pulled her ponytail.

The police report said that Beers ran away once police were called, the forcibly resisted arrest.

Beers has played in eight games this season, with no points. He was in five games during his sophomore year, and 25 games as a freshman, when he had 1 goal and 6 assists.
