Top Massachusetts High Schooler Commits to UNH

CHN Staff Report

Malden, Mass. — Malden Catholic sophomore center Ara Nazarian has verbally committed to New Hampshire.

One of the top players in Massachusetts this past season, Nazarian led the Lancers to their third Super 8 championship (Division IA), scoring nine goals in MC’s five tournament games, including four shorthanded goals and a hat trick in a semifinal win over Catholic Memorial.

He finished this season with 26 goals and 20 assists.

He is the fourth member of his team to commit to a Hockey East school, joining Casey Fitzgerald (Boston College), Michael Iovanna (UMass) and Tyler Sifferlen (UMass Lowell). Ryan Fitzgerald, who played for the Lancers last season, is a BC recruit and considered a high-end prospect for this summer's NHL Draft.
