WMU's McCarron Signs With Montreal

CHN Staff Report

Incoming Western Michigan freshman Michael McCarron has signed a three-year entry-level contract with the Montreal Canadiens.

The only NCAA player selected in the first round of last month's NHL draft — the Canadiens selected him No. 25 overall — he's eligible to play for either the Canadiens, Hamilton Bulldogs (AHL) or he could be assigned to the London Knights (OHL), which own his CHL rights.

McCarron attended Montreal's development camp earlier this week; according to a source, he has been on Western Michigan's campus for about a month, preparing for the upcoming season and had taken part in a new student orientation.
